HMC's Products geared towards ISM Code compliance

Since 2002 all shipping companies have to comply to IMO’s ISM Code (International Safety Management). Shipping companies should take into account that software solutions can support procedures and ensure employees to carry out the procedures in a uniform way. HMC provides several software products that support the processes of shipping companies. From experiences with our products we can conclude that mentioned products provide the possibility of an easier ISM Code compliance.

General (Reference ISM 1.2)

In general HMC software systems support the objective of the ISM Code of ensuring safe operations as meant in article 1.2 of the ISM Code.

CrewPlan6 (Reference ISM 3.2, 5 and 6)

HMC’s system for administrating and scheduling of crew. Responsibilities and authorizations are administrated using CrewPlan6 thus supporting article 3.2 of the ISM Code. Chapter 5 on the master’s responsibility and authority is supported by the different log in levels so that authorities are clearly stated and carried out. Checks on certificates, physical checks and qualifications of the crew in CrewPlan6 ensures that the shipping company can comply to chapter 6 of the ISM Code on resources and personnel

WorksPlan (Reference ISM 5, 6, 8 and 10)

HMC’s system for keeping inventories, certificates and planning maintenance. Chapter 5 on the master’s responsibility and authority is supported by the different log in levels so that authorities are clearly stated and carried out. Chapter 6 of the ISM Code on resources is supported by WorksPlan by checking on certificates and planning maintenance. Working procedures can be defined in a clear and unambiguous way for a secure transfer of work. To ensure that emergency drills as mentioned in chapter 8 are carried out on required intervals, the drills are entered in WorksPlan as work procedures. To ensure that the ship is in a good condition and that the ship is maintained conform chapter 10 WorksPlan can be used for planning the maintenance and keeping maintenance records.

CPC 2.0 loading calculating software (Reference ISM 5 and 7)

HMC’s system for calculating longitudinal strength and stability for given cargo configuration. Chapter 5 on the master’s responsibility and authority is supported by the different log in levels so that authorities are clearly stated and carried out. The loading calculations can form a part of the preparation of the shipboard operations as mentioned in chapter 7. The use of a class approved loading calculation provides the opportunity to load the ship in a safe and stable way and thus reducing risks as to cargo.

Marplot (Reference ISM 4 and 5)

HMC’s geographical information system for distance calculations, route planning and fleet monitoring. Chapter 5 on the master’s responsibility and authority is supported by the different log in levels so that authorities are clearly stated and carried out. Via the communication module Marplot can be used for communication with the Designated Person (Chapter 4) and for reporting of non-conformities, accidents and hazardous occurrences including the reporting of the position of the vessel at any time.
